Price per Pound:

1lb - $10.99  $1.10/wing
2lb - $19.99  $1.00/wing
3lb - $28.99  $0.97/wing
Average price is $1.00/wing
Team Player 2lb, Garlic bread & fries - $24.99

Quick Notables:
-Impressive portions!
-The Roxbury had a divey feel to it, but their website to me says otherwise
-Decent wings, but they use a pre-made sauce that I have had other places
-They have an all you can eat wings on Monday's
-You can also order for delivery & pick-up

I have to say pretty impressive prices for the quantity you receive. The wings are pretty generic but they do have that crunchy outside and they tasted pretty good. The sauces are pre-made and I know this as I have had them in other smaller bars, although the sauces I chose tasted pretty good.

The Team Player- Look at those portions

I chose the Team Player to share with my girlfriend and to see how everything tasted and the fries and garlic bread did not disapoint. The sauces I chose were Tequila Lime and Fire and Ice. The Tequila Lime was definitely my favourite. It had a medium to hot level sauce with a lime after taste. I was really confused by the Fire and Ice. It tasted like a medium but it had a another flavour that I cannot describe. Overall, if you are looking for cheaper wings that taste better then their price and you are looking for a bit of a dive, this is the place you will have to visit.

Jack Astor's- London

Location:
660 Richmond Street, London, ON, N6A 3G8

Date of Visit:
12th February 2016

Menu
http://jackastors.com/dinner-menu-english/
The back of their menus are pretty funny and in my opinion a pretty good idea. My girlfriend’s menu had “The methods of a 24 hour chicken finger marinade.” But each hour was listed giving little fun facts about what can be done or is done in house at Jack Astor’s during that 24 hours. Mine had “The great chicken wing conundrum.” As the title suggests if you are having troubles deciding your sauce you want on your wings. I thought this was pretty neat and I ended up choosing off this!

Price Per Size:
5 Wings $9.96    (Price per wing $1.99/wing)
10 Wings $15.22 (Price per wing $1.52/wing)
15 Wings $ 20.07 (Price per wing $1.33/wing)
Average price per wing $1.51/wing

Quick Notables
-In house breading and sauces
-They sauce it at your table?!
-Flavourful sauces, not as spicy as they were boasting
-Medium sized wings

I met up for lunch with my girlfriend and she suggested going to Jack Astor’s. She told me how much she loved their mild sauce, after she went out with her friends two weekends ago. She was saying it was a great buffalo sauce that the vinegar pierced her nose when they sauced it right in front of her.  That really enticed me to go to this place. I have never had wings tossed in front of me.  We went in, and I ordered the ten wings, five Hot sauce and five Korean sauce. They let me pay for ten even though I ordered two sauces which was really great as most places do not let you do that.

Hot Sauce (Left) & Korean (Right)

When the wings came, they came in those bowls you see above. The busser tossed them within the bowls to your desired amount of sauciness. That was really cool and a neat experience. I can really see people enjoying that, especially those who do not know how the saucing of the wings is done. It also allows the customer to choose how much sauce they want. My girlfriend was right, the flavours really hit your nose when the busser tossed them, it really got me salivating to be honest.

I really enjoyed the flavour of both sauces, but the heat level was not to par. The Korean sauce I have trouble describing, as it had the same heat level as the hot sauce and had a that vinegar hit, but it tasted a little sweeter and faint hints of soy sauce. The hot sauce flavour was excellent, but it I felt it was more of a medium heat level. The wings were in-house breaded which is always nice to hear from a chain restaurant, as they are not just freezing the wings with the breading on them or ordering them to the restaurant with the breading on them. The sizes of the wings were pretty average and the same can be said for the meat to bone ratio as well.

All in all, it was a pretty enjoyable experience and the wings were good.

Refer to the Price of Wings or anything I left out in my last review:
http://therightchickenwinger.blogspot.ca/2016/01/the-wingery-london.html

Quick notables
-Similar to last time “Big ol’ wings!!!” I honestly have not seen bigger wings in my life.
- I went hotter this time and I got Gates of Hell
-Dry rubs are amazing
-Extremely Flavourful

Gates of Hell (Left) & Desert Heat (Right)

As promised, I returned to this Wingery hungry and I had the desire to have a hotter wing. I was also in the mood for a dry rub. I ordered two pounds, One Gates of Hell, the other Desert Heat. The Wingery has their own Heat scale, Gates of Hell sits at 5/7 and is the second hottest wing you can get, and Desert Heat is at 3/7.

The Dry Rub (Desert Heat) was perfect. The wings are huge, flavourful, it has a good mixes of spices and has a slow burn that starts at around a medium and slowly makes its way up just before a “Hot level.” Did I forget to mention CRISPY?! Wow Crispy outside and perfectly cooked chicken on the inside! Ask for no more.

The Gates of Hell is literally everything I look for in hot sauce on a menu. Their hot sauce is an actual hot sauce and tastes exactly how a hot sauce should taste when you order at a restaurant, bar or wherever you get your wings. If you want to try how a hot sauce is done to perfection, order the Gates of Hell from here!

Even though I brought these wings back home as you do from this location, I had a great personal experience eating these wings as they were perfectly cooked and while watching Edmonton destroy Ottawa last night. I could not ask for more. Top Marks!

Fourteen Wings (2.1 LBS) $19.00  Price per wing: $1.35/wing
Eighteen Wings (2.6 LBS) $24.00  Price per wing: $1.33/wing

Quick notables
-Decent wings
-Great range of sauces at this location
-Monday half price wings
-SAUCY
-Not much customization at this place

Went out with some friends after my placement near the Pearson Airport to catch up and share a little about our placements. I was impressed with the range of sauces you could order. You can’t get more than one sauce if you are ordering 14 wings and under. This sucked, as I want to try more than one sauce. I got Hot & Honey. Hot & Honey just tasted like a Honey Garlic sauce. I told the server about the Hot & Honey not being hot enough and she said she agrees as she has had it before. She suggested asking to put on suicide on it next time and I will not be disappointed. She also said that the suicide is house made and it very good. Next time I go, I will have to defiantly have to try it.

10wings $6.99   $0.70/wing

Large
15wings $9.99   $0.66/wing
Overall Average Price $0.73/wing

Quick Notables
-Spicy Thai Chili had no burn but the sauce was good
-Smaller size wings but cooked perfectly with a beautiful crispy outside
-Apple Butter tasted just as good the second time
-This outing to Kelsey’s was much better than the last time I went

Quite the wings! I love getting 66-cent wings and the quality of the wings was very good. The wings were smaller but damn they were cooked well and so crispy. I wish the Spicy Thai Chili had more heat, but that Apple butter sauce was on point. Can’t say anything more than that, but I liked the deal I got for going on a Thursday and the wings were good! I must say between the two Kesley’s, I wish their wings stayed more consistent. Both of their sauces tasted similar, so it leads me to believe that they are premade, or they do not divert very much from their recipes. It has brought my faith back to Kesley's as my last visit (http://therightchickenwinger.blogspot.ca/2016/01/kelseys-london.html) was not the best.

Quick Notables
-Kool bar (sorry I had to)
-Wings were okay
-Interesting sauces/rubs

Mild Wings

The wings here were okay. They were too greasy for me and they did not have that crunch that I feel you need in a wing. I did not like the rubs/ sauces I chose but my girlfriend got the mild and it was quite good. The rubs/ sauces I chose were Garlic Cajun and Hot. Hot was not as saucy and had a medium burn, Garlic Cajun really just tasted like over flavoured grease. The Mild on the other hand tasted great! But the wings were still smaller and didn’t feel complete.

Swamp Sauce

Price per size:
The Wingery does not count each wing like most locations but by a scale before cooking to ensure you really get what you're paying for! They are averaging 7.5 wings a pound and they are huge!

Wings by the Pound
1/2 LB $7.29         $1.94/wing
1 LB $11.99          $1.60/wing
1 1/2 LB $17.99    $1.60/wing
2 LB $22.99          $1.53/wing
3 LB $33.99          $1.51/wing
4 LB $43.99          $1.47/wing
5 LB $53.99          $1.44/wing
Average price per wing: $1.51/wing

Boneless Wings only:
¼ LB $5.99
½ LB $8.99
1 LB $17.99
2 LB $34.99
I didn't order any Boneless Wings so I cant accurately give an estimate on per wing

Get them Sloppy for $0.99/LB or Dripping for $1.59/LB
ADD a flavour shot for $0.69/LB

Snake Venom $0.30/LB

Quick notables
-Big ol' wings!
-Arsonist's Fire tasted just like a hot sauce
-Lots of great customization at these locations!
-Very good wings
-Have to take them to go as there is no place to eat them at the Wingery

Arsonist's Pride & Hot Honey BBQ

What a great place. They do other types of foods here but as the name of the place states The Wingery does wings and I am here for them! The customization that you can do at this place is pretty cool. You can add more sauce to make it sloppy for $0.99/LB or Dripping with sauce for a $1.59/LB. You can add another sauce on to the sauce you already have for a $0.69/LB. Not much of a sit down place, more like a take your wings to bring it home. Similar to how a pizza joint works.

I got the Hot Honey BBQ, Arsonist's Pride and my girlfriend got Swamp Sauce, which the Swamp was as close as you can get to authentic Buffalo sauce amazingness. Hot honey was not really hot, but a medium, but it did have a nice honey garlic sauce. Arsonist's Pride again said it was hot but really it was more of a medium. So next time I want to get either "Diablo's Cocktail", "Gates of Hell" or dare I say it "Snake Venom!"

What we should be talking about is these WINGS! My god, Huge meaty Roasters and it is crispy perfection! I love how they weigh their wings to ensure you are getting an actual pound of chicken before breading. I can't wait to go back and try something even hotter.

Regular
10wings $13.99   $1.40/wing

Large
15wings $19.99   $1.33/wing

Overall Average Price $1.43/wing

Quick notables
-The Apple Butter sauce was very good
-Medium sized wings
-Not a crispy wing, soggy breading
-Half price wings on Thursday, which can bring the average price down to $0.71/wing
-You have to order large in order two different sauces

This location sported the old classic Kelsey’s look, with some modern amenities, which was enjoyable as I grew up near a Kelsey’s that looked just like this before it switched locations and became more modern.

I ordered the large size and got two sauces, Hot and Apple Butter sauce. The chicken wings were medium sized and not roasters. Apple Butter sauce was great; the sauce was very good on the wings and brought that smoky Applewood sweetness to the wings. The Hot sauce was okay. It had the heat level of a medium, and since the wing was not crispy and the breading was soggy, it really took away from the wing. From a good chicken wing, I want/enjoy the right amount of crispy breading with the soft tender chicken underneath, unlike this experience, where both were soft.

Overall, the wings were not very good and the only thing I really enjoyed was the Apple Butter sauce and the pint. I paid full price and was disappointed for the price I was paying for these wings. They might be worth it on Thursdays when they are half price.

I want to hear from you!

Hey fellow wingers!

I would love to hear some suggestions from you about your local pub, restaurant, wingery...etc! Where do you go for your wings? When you go, what's your order? Even if they are as zany as this menu at YUK YUK's, where you can get Popcorn or Peanut Butter & Jelly sauces for your wings, I want to hear them! It's too bad that they didn't have those crazy sauces that night because I totally would have tried them. I have never quiet seen anything like that before.

So if you have any suggestions, just leave them comment section below! I would love to hear from you!
